How do I get the lastest version of itunes?

I have trying to set up my new iphone 6s but when I plug into my computer where I backed up my old phone, an error message "The iphone, "iphone" cannot be used because it requires a newer version of itunes. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of itunes." I have already downloaded the latest version but still get this message.
