Audible Quality

Dear Community,

Am I the only one who thinks that all Audiobooks offered by Audible got a very low Audio Quality?

I bought three Audiobooks the past year, and had to reclaim my money back for all of them.
I was hoping since my first purchase that the Quality might improved, however nothing got changed.

At each refund process I get asked the usual 'why' - and I explained that I would expect a decent Audio Quality.
Each time the same answer was received: We want our users to enjoy quick downloads.

This might be true for some, but I just can't see that there are no high quality options, only poor compressions at around 20KHz.


Anyone else thinks this should be changed?
Is there any way to reach iTunes Staff and make them review the Audiobooks section?

Hi emmacat,

Format 1+2 isn't even worth talking about, right.

However, I strongly disagree with 'is fine' at Format 3+4 and last but not least - the format offered at the iTunes store.

The quality is not even closely comparable to any other Audioformat offered at iTunes. I buy a lot of Audiobooks on CD and got the chance to compare a few.
Sure, I don't expect it to be like a real CD (I'm aware what compressions does to Audio), but IMHO the compression is too strong.

If you listen to any audible preview within iTunes: No depths in the sound, low frequency encodings.

perhaps through the Request Type popup choice, request an audiobook (i.e., of a higher quality availability to purchase)
