is java script 2015 safe to download?

I have an online course that i need to complete, yet every time i go to start the course it pops up with a note saying "Pop up blocker is enabled. Please add this site to your exceptions list."

In order to do this i need to download JAVA, yet i do not want to download this because I've read to many bad reviews, yet they were dated back a couple years ago.

Is anyone able to help? 😐
