Syncing sent mail on MBP and iMac

Hi,

I am often very frustrated because I cannot find old mails I know I sent but they do not turn up on my iMac. The reason is that I must have sent them using my MBP and although all incoming mail does end up on my iMac, my outgoing mail only does when it is actually sent from my iMac. Is there any way off ensuring that mail sent from my MBP is also saved on the iMac?

NB. I use IMAP and have three accounts to administer.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)
