iMac 9,1 S.M.A.R.T. failing

Hi all

I have just gone into disk utility to reformat an SD card and noticed my iMac's 1TB was highlighted in red saying I have to back up my data.

I looked further down below and noticed more red highlighted text saying the S.M.A.R.T. was failing.

The hard drive itself is working perfectly fine with around 60gb space available.

Should I be concerned?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Yes - ensure you have full backup now and replace the failing HD. Although it's working at the moment the 'failing' message at least gives you a chance to backup first before it actually stops working, which could happen at any time.
