Oct 29, 2015 8:28 PM in response to danielarimcaulayby GDan01,I have had slow to intermittent signal on Apple Music for a last few days.
I tried to play a new album this evening (Alabama Shakes - Sound & Color) and I could only stream a few seconds of music at a time before getting long delays. So I decided to download the whole album and listen to it off line. It took most of an hour to download the album (which is ridiculously slow) ... and ... I had to take four attempts to get all of the songs (because I it kept getting download errors).
I have 25 Mb service on a fibre line ... which is more than fast enough to stream or download music. In addition, I have no other problems with uploads or downloads on any other computer or application. The problem seems to be completely isolated to Apple Music.
All I can hope for is that Apple quickly identify and solve the problem.

Oct 31, 2015 7:11 AM in response to GDan01by waiten,I have been having problems with Apple Music taking a long period of time to start tracks and stopping mid track. I too am with BT although my connection speed is lower than most here, only 20M:-(
I have found consistently that Apple Music works without a hitch if I turn off WiFi and use 3G. In every other respect my BT connection works fine. Is BT throttling Apple Music? 3G shouldn't work better yet it does 100% of the time.

waitenIt is interesting that you mention throttling and the fact that 3G works better than WiFi.
Just over a year ago I wrote directly to Apple CEO Tim Cook when I discovered that "wired / wifi" software updates were going much slower than "over-the-air" software updates.
My email was intercepted by specialists with-in Tim Cook's office (no surprise there) and they immediately launched an investigation. With-in 24 hours they had discovered that someone (or some group) within the technical staff has decided to throttled wired updates in favor of over-the-air updates.
It is worth noting that this problem existed for a good part of a year before I wrote to Tim Cook. It is also notable that the problem was fixed immediately after they discovered it.
The real problem (in my mind) is not that the throttling happened ... it is that Apple as a whole wasn't aware that they were doing this.
Given your experience (3G better than wired), I strongly suspect (but obviously don't know for sure) that someone (or group) in the technical staff has done the same thing again without realizing that they are trashing the Apple Music business.
That is too bad ... because I really like this new service.

If it is the case that a restriction is being applied to the music streaming service, and I am only guessing, I would imagine that the organisation most likely to benefit is BT as they have only a finite amount of bandwidth to share between all customers and some ISPs have been doing the same for NetFlix. As iTunes on my Mac also performs poorly I tried connecting to my iPhone as a mobile hotspot and guess what - it works fine.

From my conversations with Apple related to the software update incident (I was on a couple of conference calls with them) ... it didn't seem that there was any real need to dial down the wired service. Limited bandwidth wasn't raise at any point in our conversations. If anything, it sounded as if it was just a lack of understanding of how to tune and balance the servers/services. It is a large and complex organization, so I am not surprised that they would run into problems like this from time to time. I am surprised at how long it takes for them to figure out that they have a problem.
Unfortunately, I ordered the new Apple TV box (scheduled to arrive on Nov 2), specifically so that I could stream Apple Music to my sound system. It may be a while before I will be able to actually use it.

Oct 31, 2015 9:32 AM in response to GDan01by waiten,I know Apple may not have the best reputation for it's online services, and if the 3G connection failed too I would perhaps think this is teething problems with capacity but I think this is more likely something in BT's network. It may be something specifically aimed at streaming services, or just a more general capacity problem. The overall performance of my broadband connection certainly varies by time of day and day of week.
My Apple TV doesn't stream music any better than my computer but other content seems fine.

Just wanted to let you know that the whole Apple Music service has been working flawlessly for me for the past 5 or 6 hours here in Toronto. I am not sure what changed ... but I hope you are experience the same thing.
I also noticed that 18 people have clicked the "I don't have this problem any more" link on the original post ... so maybe the issue has been addressed.

Nov 1, 2015 1:19 AM in response to GDan01by Max Ziebell,Maybe there is some trottling going on for europe but the problem remains (Germany, Berlin)
Service is currently unusable! I got delays from up to 20-40 seconds for streams to start on all devices in my household. Also frequent track skips and sudden buffer pause (often without recovery).
