In the UK, McDonalds does not currently accept Amex / American Express payments via Apple Pay.

Oct 13, 2015 3:55 AM in response to Jonathan UKby RobbieUK,Thanks for the quick answer but that just raises more issues:
Are Mcdonald's or Amex aware of this as they don't seem to have any clue?
Also why not? Amex contactless is taken at Mcdonald's, Amex is supported on Apple Pay and Apple Pay is supported at McDonalds. I can find no mention of limitations and if so perhaps Amex shouldn't be on the Apple Pay supported list?
It doesn't inspire confidence to attempt using Apple Pay with often confused staff if you have no way to know if is likely to work. Is there a list of the various combinations that might work?

Oct 13, 2015 3:59 AM in response to RobbieUKby Jonathan UK,That information is included within the Apple Pay reference notes that are available to the McDonalds Customer Services team.
If you would like to discuss your concerns with McDonalds, you can contact them here:

You can also submit further feedback to Apple here:

Oct 13, 2015 4:16 AM in response to Jonathan UKby RobbieUK,Thanks again, Sorry but a few final queries:
I have discussed at length with Mcdonald's customer services but they seem to have not read the notes. Why aren't these notes available to us as we are the ones who have to guess when to try? As this then makes Amex's own guidance wrong? https://www.americanexpress.com/uk/content/apple-pay/Finally is this also the case with Morrisons as they seem to have the same issue and again they have no idea why?
