Safari (9.0) tries to reload certain web pages several times and then says that web material is stopped unexpectedly. The page is not displayed. Other pages work fine. Disabling extensions does not help. Any ideas?
MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11)
Additional info: even a page like https://nl.wikipedia.org gives this behaviour, but not alle WP pages are affected.

Check your top sites -- have noticed that some web sites are a bit too happy with loading their first page with videos and other animation going on and on forever --its what the designers learned on small scale in college - and just does not work well in real life and if I owned a business would fire them all.
If you have had Safari crashes - you may have parts of it still running - So a powerdown/powerup will clear them from memory.
I'm seeing the exact same issue. Sadly, these suggestions don't solve it.

Not a restart -- Shutdown - power off to clear any iterations of Safari from memory or pieces of same that can still be running.
Thanks, notcloudy — you were right about the difference of course, and I've now just finished a cold restart, but sadly this hasn't helped either.
In my case the issue seems to be caused by some font(s). I don't know which one(s) yet. But after emptying the Font folders at root level and in the User folder, the Wikipedia page opens like normal.
