iPod 4th gen won't go beyond Apple logo

My 4th gen iPod is having some weird issues. When I try turning it on while unplugged, it turns on but it only reaches the Apple logo, stays there for a couple of seconds, then turns back off, never reaching my lock screen. But when I connect it to a power source, it turns on normally. I already tried doing the hard reset (power/sleep + home buttons) and the recovery mode via iTunes but it still exhibits that issue. Can anybody help me? Thanks!

Try the remaining actions of:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try another cable

- Try on another computer

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
