Why did a US flag icon suddenly appear on my Mac after a reboot?

I clicked on a link in a blog on my MAC Book and then a blue page came up and a voice saying that my computer was under attack and that I should call a certain number. I quickly forced shut down and when I rebooted. There is a US flag in the top corner of my nav bar. What doe sthat mean? Is someone spying into my Computer?

PProbably a glitch from the forced shutdown

Apple Menu()>System Preferences>Keyboard >Show keyboard&Character viewer in menubar

turn it off

its just the language flag

i I doubt there's anything wrong with your computer,

what you saw was a nasty java script from a web page that cant really do anything to your computer but messes with safari until you close it

they are trying to scare you into giving them money or personal information

apparently this works as they keep doing it

you can disable JavaScript in safari but you will loose a lot of functionality. If you see such a thing again just restart and you should be fine
