Oct 13, 2015 7:09 AM in response to V59by jonty_b,In what way are you being instructed to change your Apple ID ?
-
Oct 13, 2015 7:13 AM in response to jonty_bby V59,Well, I was reading the Apple support instructions to change the ID, but not clear what the consequences are as far as all tied to the old one, as in: mail; movies bought under the old one; music bought; etc.

-
Oct 13, 2015 8:00 AM in response to jonty_bby V59,Yes, we use this ID on all our devices: iMac; iPhone; iPad; iPod. We want to change the ID for security but I do not want to lose access to our bought movies and music.

Oct 13, 2015 8:06 AM in response to V59by jonty_b,I do not believe there is a way to do this without losing access to your purchased material. I strongly believe Apple should allow users to merge Apple ID's as I also have this exact same problem .

Oct 13, 2015 8:23 AM in response to jonty_bby V59,Yes, does not seem fair to the users. Many have to change their ID for many reasons. There has to be a way to transfer your purchases, of course, with proper proof.
Thank you for your help.

Oct 13, 2015 8:34 AM in response to V59by Glenn Leblanc,You can't get a new apple id and move purchases from an old one to it. Those purchases will always be tied to that apple id.
I'm not sure what you mean be changing your apple id for security purposes. If you feel your id was compromised, then change the password.
If you want other users to view your purchases, then there are several ways to do that. You can do sharing with iTunes. You can also use family sharing where the main account holder is responsible for purchases, but other can view all your purchases while still having their own ID.

Oct 13, 2015 8:37 AM in response to Glenn Leblancby jonty_b,It also depends what type of purchases you have. If it is apps you are able to set up a family and this will allow you to share some types of purcahses with the other Apple ID. This doesn't transfer the purchases only share them.

Oct 13, 2015 8:54 AM in response to jonty_bby Glenn Leblanc,Never said it would transfer purchases. All purchases made from an apple id are tied to that id and can't be transferred.
Most purchases can be shared with family sharing. Only a few exceptions apply:
