After updating to iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11) my design applications keep crashing. Can't do any work.

I use The Logo Creator and Anv soft banner maker for my design work. They both worked fine with Yosemite but now crash when ever I try to import image files that I was able to import before. First I thought it's just one product and contacted the seller but then tried the other's and noticed they also crashing so I suspect the problem is with the new OS. Need this sorted as soon as possible.
