Cant Reboot my IMac

Since the upgrading of OSX El Capitan, I cannot Reboot my system, either through the command key sequence or via the Apple Icon in the top left of the screen. I can Reboot by manual methods, but can't keep doing this when any update requires a Reboot. Anyone out there experiencing similar issues? Thanks
