can not restore iphone backup store is not available

Hi

My 4S suddenly stopped during a call this afternoon and requires a full restore. I tried to kick off the restore just now, but when selecting todays or yesterdays icloud backup it says the store is not available (itunes). Also if I try to update apps on my macbook it says store is unavailable.

Is there an ETA when this is resolved?
