can i attach my apple tv to my x1 cable box?

My tv has only two hdmi ports that I want to attach to my X1 cable box and my blu ray player. My Xfinity X1 cable box has three hdmi ports. Can I use one of those ports for my apple tv?

Or would it be better to get a Terk Smart HDMI Switch (2 x 1) instead?
