reset airport express

After cancelling a hotspot providing wifi, i'm back to using my Airport Extreme. AirPort Utility cannot find the Airport Express (used for music). When i use the pulldown menu to "Configure other" after entering name and password it cranks and cranks then finally shows up with a dialog box "An error occurred while reading the configuration".

i have unplugged power and now have a blinking amber light.

Help!

OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Suggest that you perform a Hard Reset on the AirPort Express as follows.......

Power up the Express for a few minutes if it is not already on

Hold in the reset button on the back of the Express for 7-8 seconds and release

Allow a full minute for the Express to restart to a slow, blinking amber light

Restart the Mac

Click the WiFi icon at the top of the Macs screen

Look for a listing of New AirPort Base Station

Just below that heading, click on AirPort Express

See if that will get the setup "wizard" up and running to set up the Express again. A screen similar to this should appear, except that you will see the devices on your network pictured

Follow the prompts
