External mic and still use internal speakers?

Hello, I just purchased an external mic off Amazon. Does not have TRRS port, just mini.

I plug it into the headphone port and the mic works but then Sound shows only an Aggregate sound output option. The internal option is taken away.

My MFI headphones/mic works fine when plugged in, due to TRRS I suppose. However, Aggregate sound doesnt pump the speakers when just the mic is put into the headphone port.

Do I need an adapter? Is there an override? I have alternatives, but this is a pretty sweet little mic Id love to get running.
