I did a software update and now getting error 9 and my iPad 2 is not working

I erased my iPad 2 and did a software update and now getting error 9 and my iPad 2 is not working. It doesnt let me restore back to factory settings, update again, It just has the itunes connection on the ipad. I tried it on 2 different computers with 2 different cords. I went into the apple store and they said they couldn't help me. He basically told me it ***** that by my doing THEIR update it completely ruined my iPad when it was working perfectly fine, and couldn't do anything for me since I wasn't under warranty. So now I am left with a non working iPad and really upset. If anyone can please help me, I have tried everything I could. Thanks!!!!!!!!!
