Photos ruined my iPhoto pictures

Hello everyone.

I'm livid at the moment. I imported my entire photo library to my Mac via the Photos App. As I am used to, I ticked the checkbox that says to delete the photos after being imported.

I let Photos do its thing.

When I checked the photos on Photos, I was horrified to find that a third of them have been imported incorrectly. By this I mean the photos are cut off.

Unfortunately, because the photos have been deleted from my iPhone, there's no way for me to re-import them back.

I made a backup of the photo library a month ago, so some of them I can retrieve. It's the recent ones that I need to bring back, in whatever manner.

I don't have them backed up in iCloud, in case you were to ask.

Is there a way to restore the iPhone internally? I only need to go back to this morning, before I made the mistake of using Photos.

1 - You NEVER import a library - it simply does not work -

2 - and I am not at all clear what you did since even if you made the error of importing an old library (which is normally impossible to even attempt as libraries are greyed out in the import selection window) there would be no "delete after import" option since that is only for cameras not for disk files

3 - using a computer without a current backup is a really bad decision and is a guarantee of losing things

so since I have no idea what you actually did there is no way to assist - and chances are pretty good that there is no solution anyway

So you imported the photos from your iPhone and not another library on your Mac, right? Didn't you think to check the resulting import to make sure it went as it should have before deleting off the iPhone?

If you backup up the iPhone via iTunes to your Mac you can recover the photos by using the Restore Backup option in iTunes.

Or there are 3rd party apps that can go thru the backup package and extract the photos as you see fit.

1. Thanks.

2. I may have used incorrect wording. What I did was I opened Photos, clicked on the Import tab, checked the "delete items after import" checkbox, then clicked "Import New Photos." I left the phone alone while it was doing the importing--I wasn't doing any updates, texting, or calling.

3. Like I said, I did make a backup of my photos a month ago, so I am okay with restoring those. It's the more recent ones that I need retrieved.
