unable to see what I am typing in Pages

I am unable to see what I am typing in pages when font choice is black. The only color I can see is navy blue & it is actually a lavender color. I have uninstalled & reinstalled the program. This is driving me crazy!!!!!

can you see black in any other applications?

Have you tried quitting and restarting Pages?

can you post a screenshot of the offending text with the text selected AND the formatting tool open? like this?:
