iCloud has stopped working!!

This problem is driving me crazy; every time I sign in the iCloud control panel on my win 7 pc, the application freezes and I get a popup saying the iCloud has stopped working and windows is gathering information. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application several times and it is not making any difference. Even I deleted the icloud registries once uninstalled but no thing changes.There are so many similar discussions out there but I do not see a fix; can someone from Apple help me out with this issue.
