Keyboard will type only numbers.... when pressing letters?

This isn't a new problem with my PB G4, but I thought I would finally ask...

About once a month or so, during the work day, my keypad will only type in numbers... regardless what key I use. Letters, F-keys, symbols all produce a number 0-9.

I restart and all is fine again, until next time.

Any hints as to why?

Probably because you accidentally press F6, which is labeled Num Lock. When Num Lock is on, the only keys active are the numeric keypad keys marked by numbers on the lower right corners.

There is a light for Num Lock, but on a PowerBook G4 it can be a dim light which is hard to see. You might not realize you've turned it on. It happens to me.
