Q: How do I disable the ios 9 update reminder on the phone?

I have a very slow Internet connection and will skip updates if there isn't anything in the readme that applies. Also, I always update the phone through the computer so I can do a backup first. However, IOS 9 now prompts me every day to install a minor update (9.0.1 to 9.0.2). This is really annoying - it even pop up when I'm in the middle of something, including full-screen games. I've dug through Software Update, Notifications, ITunes Store, Restrictions, and even Accessibility to try to turn this off.

How can I turn this off besides blocking it on my router?

Thanks.

iPhone 5, iOS 9.0.1

It is really annoying and I feel your pain.  Unfortunately there is no way to stop this notification.  I've contacted Apple support as I suggest you do as well but that may not get us anywhere.  I also tried posting this question recently but used slightly harsher language and the post got deleted by Apple.

What really gets me about this problem is, they are downloading data to our phones without our consent.  That notification is just to start the installation.  By the time you see that, it's on your phone already.

Hopefully there will be a patch to this that will allow us to turn off this notification at the least.

As josephbow6 states I think that nearly everyone agrees that the behavior of downloading the update automatically needs to stop.  This behavior causes significant problems for many users that have limited data plans and limited iPhone storage.

However, although I do find the invasive notifications annoying, I understand and support Apple's position on the repetitive notifications of iOS updates waiting.  If it weren't for these types of notifications, the MAJORITY of iOS users would NEVER update their iOS versions.  It's a proven fact that uninformed users of technology (Mac, Windows, iOS, browsers, etc...) simply don't understand the significant security implications of not installing updates in a timely manner.  Therefore, Apple is in the difficult position of either forcing updates upon users or risk that a major vulnerability may one day hit the platform hard.  Faced with this decision, Apple has wisely chosen to protect users that unfortunately don't understand nor appreciate that they are being protected, not purposely annoyed.

Go to Settings>General>Storage & iCloud Usage and under Storage, go to Manage Storage. You can delete the iOS update there. It will only download the update if you are connected to Wi-fi and power. If you wish to wait to update, then you can also turn wi-fi off when you are plugged into power overnight if you wish.
