iphone 9 not recognized in itunes 12.1 on windows vista

Try this.

Go to control panel, and devices and printers. Then choose the iPhone and click on either "remove device". Then plug it in, and it should automatically install the drivers. If it doesn't check the lightning cable(charger)

Now if that doesn't work. It might just be the Windows vista. Since iTunes 12.3 requires windows 7 or later, and IOS 9 requires iTunes 12.3. You might need to try a different computer.

An iPhone running iOS 9 requires the newest version of iTunes, which is 12.3. This newer iTunes version will require Windows 7 to run. Unfortunately there is no other way to get that phone to recognize, even by updating the drivers.
