I want this to STOP! One is my work phone, the other my personal and I don't want to have to use separate apple IDs because I don't want to lose my contacts, etc. How do I fix this? I just want to make it go back to the way it was.

The core issue here is because both devices are sharing the same Apple ID. Don't do that. Setup Family Sharing and give each device / user their own Apple ID to use.
On both phones, make changes in Settings.
Phone / call forwarding. Be sure that it is disabled.
Messages / text message forwarding. Be sure that it is disabled.
Messages / send & receive. Disable the email address(es) and the other phone number.

Templeton, what is the issue with 2 iPhones sharing the same Apple ID. I have done it before with my work phone and personal phone. It makes managing downloaded apps much easier.

The existence of this question answers that. It's just one example. Other similar issues are likely to arise, such as getting your personal and work contacts jumbled together, etc.

There is no issue with one individual using the same Apple ID on more than one device. I use the same Apple ID on my iPhone, my iPad and my iMac. You have already learned how to direct calls to only the correct device. The real issue comes up when two people use the same Apple ID.

Fan, when I had a work iPhone, i intentionally didn't synchronize my work contacts or calendar via iTunes (only via the Exchange server) to avoid getting them combined with my personal information on my personal phone.

Thank you for your response! So, for the calls, it was Phone / Calls on other devices that needed to be turned off. I made the other changes and it seems to be working correctly now. Thanks again!
It helps you because its just you alone. It wouldn't work out very well for two people sharing different apple id's. One person could receive the others messages and phone calls...
