How can you covert TextEdit to a Word document?

Hi, hoping someone can help. A document that was unsaved I recovered in the temp folder, however is only viewable in TextEdit and the majority of it is in codings. Does anyone know how you can convert these codings or this file back into a Word document. Thanks.
