my son has always used my itunes account. I just started icloud and all his contacts synced to my phone. Does he need his own itunes account so this doesnt happen. if so will he lose all his stuff on his phone when getting a new account.
The recommended approach is for each person to have their own Apple ID and to then use Family Sharing. See the following links:

Will he lose everything on his phone by getting his own Apple id? Also does he have to hook it to iTunes to do that or Can he do that from his Phone. Thanks so much i am not very tech savvy.
He can do it from the phone without connecting to iTunes on a computer. He will lose access to all of his previous iTunes purchases (apps, music, etc) unless or until you set up Family Sharing as discussed in my previous post.
