Help! ITunes obsessed with non-existent server

Every time I start iTunes or try to sync with my iPhone, I get the following message:

There was a problem connecting to the server “(server name)”

This server may not exist or is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.

It is true, that server does not exist and has not for quite a while. Everything else on the machine works, including Mail, browsers, iTunes Store, etc.

Details:

MacBook ProOS X Yosemite, vers. 10.10.5

iTunes 12.3.0.44

iPhone 9.0.2

Tired of WBOD and iTunes locking up!

Thanks!

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), iOS 9.0.2
