I AM TRYING TO "SHARE" MY ETHERNET CONNECTION WITH MY LAPTOP AND iPAD.

I am trying to "share" my ethernet connection with my laptop and iphone. Both have "found" my iMac but cannot connect. I have allowed them through my preferences but still nothing. I have sharing turned on and have listed the other devices. I am obviously missing something. Any help is so appreciated.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)
