Q: I can not securely delete trash.

Since installing OSX El Capitan I can not securely delete trash.  That option does not appear under Finder Preferences.  This was working before I loaded El Capitan.

    Greetings wafula,

I understand that you no longer see the option to empty your trash securely after updating your Mac to OS X El Capitan. This option has been removed in El Capitan and more information can be found in the article below.

    Finder

Available for: Mac OS X v10.6.8 and later

Impact: The "Secure Empty Trash" feature may not securely delete files placed in the Trash

Description: An issue existed in guaranteeing secure deletion of Trash files on some systems, such as those with flash storage. This issue was addressed by removing the "Secure Empty Trash" option.
