Garageband preferences won't open

Hi everyone,

I've been having an issue with Garageband since I updated it. When I try open preferences in the Garageband menu it doesn't work. I've tried quitting and doing it again but it still doesn't work. I am running the latest version of Garageband on OS X El Capitan. I do not know why this is happening so if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this please let me know. Thanks.
