Help with iMovie- Error message 10008

I began with this issue earlier when i was getting the error message "50" but then updated my iMovie and that was fixed, now I'm getting the video rendering error 10008.. I can't upload or export any video. Please help as it is very frustrating, I've been working on this project and now i can't export it. Thanks.

"It was the only 'mov' file amongst 'gopro' and 'img' files"

Have you been able to export GoPro files using iMovie? I kept getting the error 10008 and only now discovered that GoPro files aren't compatible with iMovie - I've spent so long editing footage all taken on my GoPro and the files need to be changed in CineForm studio software - except I just read that GoPro isn't linked with CineForm anymore. Do you know if I need to find all the original clips and convert them for iMovie and start everything again, or is there a way I can keep everything I've worked on and convert it all together?

There was quite a bit of GoPro footage amongst other HD vidcam footage. Everything exported as usual after I found the offending clip. It was my mate that uploaded them (his first time using iMovie so he would have just plugged and imported) so I was out of that part, it was strange about the .mov clip and that every other clip was .img when I was scrubbing over them in events although they were a mixture of imports and showed up as .m4v in the files on my mac. The GoPro should be fine. There were numerous gopros here as they were from my students, also an older HD standard headcam, iphones and Sony HD video cams. For only one clip to be different/dodgy/corrupt was odd. I am going to purchase a gopro myself in a few days so if I do come into difficulty with it I will add to the post.

I am trying to get to grips with Final Cut Pro X too but have read similar problems.

I'm sure you've resolved this problem by now, but just for future people who see this problem... I'm running iMovie off of an external drive with a library on that drive as well. I had a 2 minute movie and got this error about an eighth of the way through exporting.

I saw someone talking about separating out the chapters, trimming out black frames, and thought, "oh my God I'm absolutely not doing that" and copied and pasted everything into a new project using the same library and it exported just fine.

#imovie, amirite?

Hello,

I have worked on this iMovie project well over 12+ hours and have a deadline to meet.

I am hoping you can assist me. I've researched the error code 1008 and know that it means one or more video files are corrupted. Three folded question here...

1.) Please advise a better way to locate the corrupted segment or corrupted file that is blocking the completion of the rendering process.

2.) I removed three separate video clips from this movie yet when to attempt to "Share" as a "file" to my desktop it continues to attempt to render video clips I removed. I've changed the file name when saving of the video yet it continues to not be able to share. Any suggestions?

3.) Is there a way to "clean out" the "share" option of files? When I click on the circular radio dial next to the share icon in the top right corner- it continuously tries to upload old files...

Any suggestions would be great! Thank you!

Hello, we ran into this same issue.

Removing the black frames helped indeed, but sometimes we had problems finding all the black frames, so exporting was still a problem.

So we found another solution that seems to work for us.

The sourcefragments we use are .avi : we converted them first to .mov using an app called Wontube Free Video Converter. It's on the appstore. I'm sure other similar apps will do the trick too.

After using the .mov-fragments in iMovie we didn't have errorcode 10008 anymore while exporting and didn't have to remove any black frame anymore. We're not wizzards here, but presume that converting your sourcefiles first, cleans them up.

Hope this helps, 'cause the internet is full of similar threads.
