Help with iMovie- Error message 10008

I have worked on this iMovie project well over 12+ hours and have a deadline to meet.

I am hoping you can assist me. I've researched the error code 1008 and know that it means one or more video files are corrupted. Three folded question here...

1.) Please advise a better way to locate the corrupted segment or corrupted file that is blocking the completion of the rendering process.

2.) I removed three separate video clips from this movie yet when to attempt to "Share" as a "file" to my desktop it continues to attempt to render video clips I removed. I've changed the file name when saving of the video yet it continues to not be able to share. Any suggestions?

3.) Is there a way to "clean out" the "share" option of files? When I click on the circular radio dial next to the share icon in the top right corner- it continuously tries to upload old files...

I tried to download a video from imovie I've made when it comes up with this. (Error in video rendering: 10008 (iMovie error 10008: renderVideoFrame failed)) why does imovie say that. I have ensured that all the video clips I've included in the video on Imovie are also on my mac, it's worse because of the music I'm using or what can it be

Hello, we ran into this same issue.

Removing the black frames helped indeed, but sometimes we had problems finding all the black frames, so exporting was still a problem.

So we found another solution that seems to work for us.

The sourcefragments we use are .avi : we converted them first to .mov using an app called Wontube Free Video Converter. It's on the appstore. I'm sure other similar apps will do the trick too.

After using the .mov-fragments in iMovie we didn't have errorcode 10008 anymore while exporting and didn't have to remove any black frame anymore. We're not wizzards here, but presume that converting your sourcefiles first, cleans them up.

I have also had this problem, what is going on? It was working perfectly before the last iMovie update. Now I can't export anything without getting the: Video rendering error: 10008. Is there a fix for this?

Could somebody please shed some light on this matter?

I am facing this problem too. Sometimes it downloads part of the video instead of the entire video.

I got this error message but in fact iMovie had created a partial movie file - it stopped toward the end (47 minutes) instead of 62 minutes so I went to that place (47 minutes) in the iMovie edit and found what appeared to be a glitch - flickering as I moved the cursor/timeline over the area in question. I cut this out, replaced it with other video, and it rendered fine.

Hopefully there will be a patch for this.

It doesn't help that using iMovie causes my fans to scream in agony as they deal with the heat generated from the whole process!

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried, but that doesn't work. It seems like iMovie is not compatible with the movie clips generated by my cam. 😟

I'VE had the same problem, but I solved it now..

all you got to do is to convert the quality of all the videos to the same format.. that's all, then I am sure that it will work.

Whats gone wrong at Apple !. Software and devices I was using with no problems on my Mac are now useless .

Adobe Photoshop dead in the water, won't even open anymore.

The new iMovie has video rendering issues [error 10008] and will not process my Wildlife camera [AVI] or my other video camera.

After connecting devices there content automatically goes into Photos, video files can only be transferred to IMovie which it can't render. I tried to transfer video out of photos to another app to covert them to different formatt but it won't allow. If I import directly to iMovie the issue is the same. The only one theres no problem with is my iPhone. I purchase Photoshop from Apple App store. My cameras are high quality and new. Is OS X EI Capitan Version 10.11.1 the problem or the new iMovie or Photos or is it Apple themselves going down the drain.

Any feedback is most welcome .

I'm in the same boat. Ive been using iMovie for short videos for ages. Never touched any settings, just uploaded, cut so i have the section i want, export to desktop. All was working until the latest update and now i get the error message no matter what video i try. All clips are on my desktop, copied direct from a memory card. Something I've been doing for ages with no problem. HELP.

I got the error message 10008 and imovie stopped. But it created a short file with the length of 3 min 46 sec. I looked to the original clip at 3:46 and i found 0.4 sec frames with blocks in it. I removed this 0.4 sec and started the export again. Now all is fine.
