Loaded the new El Capitan.... now... AFTER THE FACT, I discover that IPHOTO won't work with the update... and that they may NOT update Iphoto for EL Capitan.
SO... what happened to ALL my photos that were in IPHOTO?? I sure cant find them in PHOTOS!!

You can update iPhoto if you have iPhoto v9 already.
What do you see in Photos when you launch that?
To update iPhoto:
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.

Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

My problem starts ahead of al this, but maybe I should start an other thread ?
I had to have my harddisk (Macbook Pro) change after a major crash. On the new HD they installed El Capitan and thus Photos with it. The problem is that Photos won't start at all ?
To make things more complicated the language on the screen-shot is Dutch, but it says; "An unexpected error occurred. Leave the application/program and start-up again".
No matter how much I try, it won"t start ?
I very much like to have iPhoto back, but I don't know how. Do you have any suggestions ?
