Q: Apple ID issue when updating Garageband in App Store

On MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2011) running El Capitan, App Store Update lists an available update for Garageband 6.0.5.  However, I receive this message when I attempt the update:

These apps cannot be accepted by your Apple ID.

These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID, and they will be available in that Apple ID's Purchases list. If you don't have access to that Apple ID and want to receive future updates, you will need to purchase the applications.

This Apple ID is used in Family Sharing, therefore should be the same ID used for all purchases in both iTunes and the App Store.  I have tried signing out and back in with no effect.  I was able to update iMovie this morning.

    Hi Tom,

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

From what I gather, you aren't able to update GarageBand on your MacBook Air because of an alert that says "These apps cannot be accepted by your Apple ID." Is it possible that you set up the MacBook Air with another Apple ID? Take a look at the article below and try signing in to the Mac App Store with another Apple ID.

Accept bundled apps using the Mac App Store - Apple Support

If you can't accept an app

If you see an alert message or you don't see your purchases during this process, follow the instructions below.

"These apps cannot be accepted by your Apple ID. These have already been assigned to another Apple ID."

You've already accepted the apps with an Apple ID that you aren't currently signed in with on the Mac App Store. Try signing in using the Apple ID that you initially used to set up your Mac, or check to see if anyone else who uses your Mac accepted these apps.

    Cheers.
