Q: WIFI ISSUES

Desperately needing help with a WIFI problem.

I Recently bought a second hand macbook, for the first few days it  worked fine connecting to my WIFI. I also have a few other devices in the house that use the same WIFI network so I am pretty confident it is not a router problem. The Mac has decided to only connect to the WIFI on random occasions and even once a connection is made if I am away from the computer or not actively using the internet it disconnects and then won't reconnect.

So when I click on my Wi-Fi to connect it says network timeout or incorrect password. I have tried the network diagnostics hundreds of times and sometimes it comes back with an error message that says I may have the wrong security settings and should contact my service provider, very rarely it connects.

All the lights in the side column are red except the WIFI which is green. Today the latest message is "network change detected you network configuration has change click OK to continue " which I do and it asks for the password and then an error message of you may be out of range, or providing an incorrect password, both of which I am not!

And round and round I go.

I am very novice with macs I have used an iPad for years and only now need the computer for a university course. Any help would be appreciated and apologies in advance if there is an easy fix but i had tried every forum resembling my query and no solutions have worked as of yet.!
