To make sure we are on the same page, you are getting emails from Apple on your primary email and would like to unsubscribe from them. That is something that you can do.
Take a look at the article below to walk you through unsubscribing from any Apple marketing emails.

Just in case that is not what you are looking for and you want to simply remove the email account on your iPad, you can do that by following the steps outlined below.

- Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
- Tap the email account.
- Tap Delete Account.

Oct 14, 2015 1:37 PM in response to norm123by mef3347,I did not articulate my problem properly. It is not emails from Apple that I am trying to avoid. In fact, I want to continue getting emails from Apple. My problem is that I am getting so much spam in my primary email account that I would like to close it down. Unfortunately, many years ago when I first set up my Apple ID and email account I made them the same and did not use an alias email as I should have. So, now I would like to either a) change my Apple ID or b) only get email to another email account (Apple) without ever getting any email again to my current email account. The spam can just keep pouring in for all I care. I will just never set it up on my computer, iPad or iPhone for use. Instead I would use another Apple email account and I will never have to look at the spam on the original account. My presumption is that it is a "big deal" or maybe impossible to get rid of my original Apple ID and start over again. If that were possible, it would be fine also.

Thanks for clarifying what you are trying to accomplish. Changing the Apple ID is something that you can do as long as the Apple ID is not in use or and email address ending in @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com. Take a look at the article below to walk you through those steps to sort you out.
