Does Mac EFI 2015-001 Update change the OS set by default for my MBP?

Hello,

I have MBP 17 late 2011. It comes with Lion, and I updated it to Mavericks. I don't want to update to Yosemite or El Capitan.
And I want to keep my clean install sequence - the OS downloaded by default is Lion.

So my question is a little bit dumb may be, but I want to be sure.

Does Mac EFI 2015-001 Update change the OS set by default for my MBP or not?

Thanks in advance.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Hello malembenign,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

If I understand your post correctly, you're concerned about the OS of your Mac changing when you install the Mac EFI Security Update 2015-001. Installing this update has zero impact on the OS that you Mac is running on. In order to use a newer OS, you would need to manually update to it via the App Store. If you'd like to learn more about what is in the Mac EFI Security Update 2015-001, then please see the link below:
