Q: Pause or Edit movie download on iPad

It sounds like you were tapping the pause button but it wasn't actually pausing the movies which were downloading and you also want to know how to delete a movie that has been downloaded. For the first issue I would recommend you quit the the Settings, iTunes and Videos apps:
1. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps.
2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.
3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
To delete the movies this article has the steps to get that accomplished:
Delete music, movies, apps, and other content from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Remove movies, entire TV show seasons, or music videos
Tap Edit, then tap
in the upper-left corner of the show or movie you want to delete. When you're done, tap Done.Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Oct 14, 2015 5:17 PMby AhimsaMama,Thanks for your suggestions. I have already tried closing apps and restarting the iPad several times. The pause button and the Edit page in the iTunes Store app remain stubbornly unfunctional.
Since the movies have not ever fully downloaded, they are not available to remove in the Video app.

Sign in with a different Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
iTunes, iBooks, and App Store
- Tap Settings > iTunes & App Store.
- Tap your Apple ID. If you see the option to Sign In, you can change your Apple ID now.
- Tap Sign Out.
Then Quit the Settings and Videos apps one more time, sign back in and try one more time.
