Q: How can I resize Pages in split screen to only take up half of the screen?

I am using a Macbook Pro, 13" (Early 2015), but I have a feeling that shouldn't really matter for this issue. I love using split screen with OS X El Capitan, but I use Pages quite frequently and it seems this is one of the only apps that has a limit on how small I can make it. In other words, I can't actually split the screen evenly when Pages is one of the apps I am trying to use in full screen. Tthe resizing icon appears in the middle of the screen, and will let me make pages larger, but when trying to resize the split screen evenly, pages will only constrain to about 2/3 of the screen. This is quite annoying, particularly when splitting the screen with Safari, as Safari then becomes unproportionally small, along with it's page content. I have tried removing the toolbar, the sidebar, everything I can in Pages down to just the page itself, but I still cannot bring it down to the size I need to simply evenly split the screen.

Spilt View is limited by the minimum width of an application's window when in standard view. If two app takes up more than the full width of the your display when you resize each application window to their minimum width, then they will not be able to be shared in Split View.

As you are using a smaller display, I am suspecting that the minimum width of Pages when viewed in standard view on your display is greater than half the width of the display. Based on your post, it's probably about 2/3 of your display.

If you change the resolution of the display in System Preferences > Displays to Scaled - More Space, then Pages will probably now fit is Split View. It's a poor work around as now everything else on your computer display is smaller too.

Pages and the other iWork apps all had an update the other day, so this issue may be resolved once the updates have been installed on your computer.
