I stupidly installed Audacity program downloaded through Cnet onto my Macbook Air. What should I do?

I make music and this was my first Mac after years of using Windows. I found out that Macs rarely get viruses but that this is mostly if programs are downloaded through the App store. I didn't realize CNET was a known site for viruses. I downloaded a simple sound editing software called Audacity through CNET about a month ago. Mt computer mostly works fine but Audacity screws up a lot, doesn't work properly part of the time. I am worried a virus may be on my Mac now. Should I delete Audacity and what else should I do? Also does anyone know of a simple sound file editing software I can use for Macs instead?
