Q: Did they change how personal hotspot works?

Last time I used personal hotspot, ATT iPhone, i just turned on the hotspot and connected my non-cellular iPad...piece of cake. Now when I turn on personal hotspot it tells me i have to use bluetooth to connect something to my personal hotspot. Is this happening to everyone? If so, is that a bug? Thanks for any advice/info.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4), iPhone 6 iOS 9.0.2

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I see from your post that you're concerned about a message that appeared on your iPhone when you enabled Personal Hotspot. If Bluetooth is off on your iPhone, then you will get the prompt that you can either turn on Bluetooth, or use Wi-Fi and USB only. If you have Bluetooth on, then you will not see this popup.
