Nov 6, 2015 2:59 AM in response to Cremo Cremoby alanplum,Has anyone been able to turn this on yet?
-
Nov 6, 2015 3:21 AM in response to alanplumby MattY78,Not yet for me. It would be interesting to see if they're just making it available based on surname or something arbitrary like that. Mine begins with Y so I could be waiting a while!

Must be something very arbitrary like astrological sign then, because my first and last names begin with very early letters of the alphabet. I still can't get it to work either.

Nov 6, 2015 4:04 AM in response to Cremo Cremoby alanplum,What bugs me is my mate got his turned on.
I wonder if they accidentally flicked the "Give access to all" switch and he was just lucky before they turned it off again.
I turned of 2SV for this, and don't want to go through setting all that up again when I know this is coming.

Nov 6, 2015 7:31 AM in response to alanplumby Cremo Cremo,I'm really starting to think there is an issue/bug. When I called Apple Support a while ago, they were adamant that it was rolled out to everyone and that the only reason I was unable to get 2FA was because I was running iOS 9.1 beta. Well I haven't been running any beta on any of my devices for several weeks now and nothing has changed. So........???

Nov 6, 2015 7:34 AM in response to Cremo Cremoby alanplum,I'm following the rules too:
iPhone 6s -> iOS 9.1
iPad Air 2 -> iOS 9.1
Watch -> WatchOS 2.0.1
TV -> tvOS 9.0
And my only Windows 10 machine has iCloud Control Panel Version 5, so I am definately meeting all the criteria.
Might be worth someone getting on the blower to Apple again to see what the stance is now...

Nov 16, 2015 12:18 PM in response to alanplumby MattY78,A random though that occurred to me. Does anyone here pay for any services such as Apple Music, iTunes Match or additional iCloud storage. Just wondered if they may be making 2fa available to anyone who has any of those. Of course, I most probably am wrong.

Nov 16, 2015 12:32 PM in response to MattY78by ThatWolfgang,Yep, paying for additional iCloud storage. Still no 2 factor auth for me.

Nov 17, 2015 10:21 AM in response to MattY78by MattY78,Just tried mine again and nothing, tried my mum's on her iPad and it brought up the dialogue, so seems totally random.. The only difference is that she only has iOS devices while I have an iOS device and a Mac with OS X.

Nov 23, 2015 7:21 AM in response to MattY78by williamoconnor,Two-factor authentication will be made available to users who meet the system requirements below on all the devices they use with their Apple ID.
- iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 9
- Mac with OS X El Capitan and iTunes 12.3
- Apple Watch with watchOS 2
- Apple TV (4th generation) with tvOS
- Windows PC with iCloud for Windows v.5 and iTunes 12.3
Other criteria will also be used to determine availability. So even if you meet all the system requirements, you might not be offered two-factor authentication right away. We'll increase availability over time, until we can offer the feature to everyone.
There's the official word guys. Please refer to this articleAvailability of two-factor authentication in iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan - Apple Support

Nov 23, 2015 8:11 AM in response to williamoconnorby MattY78,Thanks, though I think most are aware of this. The original question was posted because that very article also originally stated that the button to set up 2FA would only appear once the feature is available for a user's Apple ID, but it is now appearing even when it's not. We're just speculating as to what the 'other criteria' might be, as thus far there doesn't seem to be any particular pattern.
