Q: Changing "Send & Recieve" for iMessage from number to Apple ID

I'm with o2, and my number has been disconnected because I have been unable to pay my bill. My phone number is used for iMessage and I cannot unselect and change to use my apple ID instead. Therefore I can no longer send or receive iMessage. I do not want to deregister from iMessage, I want to be able to send and receive them via my apple ID until my phone is reconnected. Does anyone have a solution?

 

(Note: I'd also like to change back to using the phone number once my phone has been reconnected.)
