Q: Emailing Notes

I just noticed that I can no longer email directly from notes on my Mac. The only options available is iMessages. Is this a problem with the El Capitan upgrade?

Hello victorybabe,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
I see that you are not able to email from Notes in El Capitan. First, to make sure you are looking for that option in the correct place, from the Notes app, go to the File menu and select "Share". You should see Mail as an option.
If you don't see that as an option, then take a look at this article:

Thanks Jeff,

Can you please assist with PDF? Same thing, I do not have email under the share option. Or from Pages.

In order to share in email, the Mail application needs to be set as the default email reader. Open Mail's preferences, under the General tab. Select Apple Mail for the default email reader.

Thanks Glenn, but I tried this and it did not work. I do not have the options to email from PDF, the only option available is now for messages and notes.

What application are you using for the pdf?
You can also drag the pdf file into a Mail window to send.

Hi Glen, thanks for the response..

Any help on the notes? With regard to the PDF, I know this to be an option, but it would be helpful once you are viewing a file, to directly email from there if you wish.

Open System Preferences and then Extensions. Check all that apply for sharing.
In order to use Mail to share, you must be using the Apple Mail application for email. Is that what you are using, or do you use some other application such as Outlook? As I said, Mail must be set to the default email reader for it to show in the share menu.

This is explained in the article that jeffd55 shared. If it still doesn't work for you, I just don't know anything else to say on it.
