Q: I am unable to back up my iPad to the iCloud

My IPad shows no backups, and every time I attempt to do so, it goes back and shows no backups again?

This did not help me,  I tried to uncheck the solved and it shows solved.  I went thru all of that already, and it will not do a backup to the iCloud.  It will only to my computer.

Explain step by step what you are doing to try to create an iCloud backup.

the setting in Itunes shows using the cloud for back up.

On the iPad, i have it plugged in, iCloud Backup enabled, and then press the "Back Up Now", and it looks as though it is going to start and then the Estimating time remaining disappears and it again shows last backup: Never?

Have you tried signing out of iCloud on the iPad? I was having problems backing up similar to yours and I signed out of iCloud in Settings>iCloud>Sign out. I restart the iPad and signed in again and then it was working.

You will get a message that your photo stream photos will be removed and your iCloud Drive data will be removed as well, but the iCloud Drive data will download again from iCloud when you sign in again. If you have photos that you want to save, you have to save them to the camera roll before you proceed. If you don't care about the photos, there is nothing that you need to do.

appreciate the help!  I tried that already before you replied, and i just tried again.  I still get the same results, it will not let me back up to iCloud?  I signed out of iCloud completely, rebooted the iPad, and logged back in again and attempted to initiate the back up.  My iPhone is backing up fine, just my iPad is not.  any other suggestions shy of going to the genius bar?

My next two suggestions would be, first reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset all settings. All device settings will have to be entered again including WiFi passwords. It's not as ominous as it sounds, but it take a little work getting all of your preferred settings back in place.

The second suggestion would be to backup with iTunes (I assume that you do that as well), restore to factory settings and then restore the backup and see how it goes. My best guess would be that the Apple Store would restore your iPad as well, if nothing else works.

Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

I appreciate the help, however my issue may be more complicated than i thought.  Currently my employer uses Gmail for our communications, and this is new as in the last couple months.  I use my iPad for work as well, and I believe that because of that, the Security has been locked down and all external synching has been de-activated as well.  I can do a back up to my Mac Book Pro, but not to iCloud.  I am going to wait to see if they fix this as I truly believe that this is the reason.

I will re-visit this in the future once i am confident that they are not causing this.

Now I am quite sure that is why you can not backup to iCloud. Your employer is preventing it and that is not uncommon with work iPads.
