Voicemail notification delayed

Since my upgrade to iOS9 (and subsequently 9.0.1 and 9.0.2) notification of a received voicemail can take up to 5 hours to appear. I can force a refresh by restarting the phone - after which voice mails appear. Not sure if this is a software, hardware, or carrier issue.


I've searched the support site and only found this as an issue in previous iOS versions. Any suggestions?


Device: iPhone 6+

Storage: 128G

Carrier: AT&T

iOS: 9.0.2

The solution:


Call AT&T and these steps:

1) Turn off WIFI

2) Have ATT re register the phone

3) Reboot the phone

4) Have ATT turn off voicemail notification, then turn it back on.

5) Test while ATT before hanging up

Just wanted to post to this subject on delayed voicemails. Our iphone 6 plus, iphone 7 and iphone 6s all had the same issue and we are all on the same account with ATT. It was simple process after reading the replies here with the advice to call ATT. ATT simply reset our voicemail on our phones, we turned off our phones, turned back on and reset our voicemail and they all work fine now.

If you purchased a new phone and did not have an iPhone in the past to restore this new phone to, it very well could be that T-Mobile has not setup your Visual Voicemail yet. You may have to call them directly and ensure they have provisioned your account with Visual Voicemail (VVM). They will also set a default password for you to use to complete the setup on your phone.

I am having the same issue -

My Phone info:

Device: iPhone 6+

Storage: 128G

Carrier: AT&T

iOS: 9.1


My friend is having the same issue also.

He also is on ATT - iPhone 6+, 64G, iOS 9.0.2 (has not performed the update yet, worried what else will go wrong)


My wife & others I know that have an iPhone 6 on AT&T (not the plus) are not experiencing the issue.


Any help would be great!
