Q: Any way to close an app?

Is there any way to close apps--"messages", "phone", settings" or any app, beside having to double click the home button and swiping the minimized windows away?

I've heard many like to run the phone "clean" and don't care for the procedure mentioned above.

Even the Apple Store  tech guy felt the same,,, as it being a tedious way to close apps.

I've suggested that each app should have a "close" icon, to close the current app. and not have to deal with the double click and swipe.

This suggestion would also eliminate the annoying/unwanted screens, when you need to make a call or write a message upon waking the phone. I just don't get why,,,if the phone notifies you of a "message",,,you open the phone and it goes to settings (because that's the last page you may have been on prior to sleep) Wouldn't it be the obvious function to go to "MESSAGES" if your notified of a "MESSAGE"???, Kind of baffling to me.

Thanks
