Q: phishing mails

newbie question.

I have always read "I should check the addresses in links in potential phishing mails. to ensure that the link doesn't take me to a fraudulent site".

I have forrgette how to do that. Please can people remind me?

also think top domain

apple.com is apple

apple.trixysneakyshadyd00d.com is not apple
the top domain is trixysneakyshadyd00d
apple can't stop the guy who owns trixysneakyshadyd00d to make a subdomain called apple

same with apple.drEvil.com and apple.Frank.com

top domain is what comes right left of the .com / .org / .net / .uk / .fr and so forth
