I found the answer - Attach the iPhone to the computer and restart the computer this allows both devices to recognize each other again. My photos are now exported from my phone and imported into Photos.

also works if you restart your phone while been connected to the mac.

But Apple, ***?

Now I every time need to restart my phone if I want to import photos from phone to Photos

aNot sure why you posted that here since Apple is not here - only users - if you wish to report a bug or new capability to Apple see http://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html

Posting requests and RANTS here accomplishes nothing at all

OK or not OK is not an issue - what is an issue is that editorial comments confuse everyone and add nothing to the discussion - this is only about helping people solve problems and posting editorials (even if they contain a solution that is totally obscured by the editorial) is contrary to helping

If you want to help then post the helpful information and do not obscure it with personal editorials

And per the TOU editorials are not OK

    2. Discussions of Apple policies or procedures or speculation on Apple decisions.
  2. Be polite. Everyone should feel comfortable reading Submissions and participating in discussions. Apple will not tolerate flames or other inappropriate statements, material, or links. 3. Post constructive comments and questions. Unless otherwise noted, your Submission should either be a technical support question or a technical support answer. Constructive feedback about product features is welcome as well. If your Submission contains the phrase "I'm sorry for the rant, but…" you are likely in violation of this policy.
